FOREVER HOME WANTED

LOCATION -Cumbria

I am looking for Ralphs ( age 6 years) Forever home , Ideally as an only pet as he is desperate for attention and can be jealous around other dogs.

He has suffered some neglect the last 18 months before coming to Spaniel Assist , which caused anxiety so he will need time and trust to adapt to another new environment.

He was also very underweight.

He has gained confidence in foster and given time he will be an amazing loving companion

Please read the foster evaluation below .

What can I say about this boy.

When he first arrived he was very quiet and withdrawn and scared of everything.

However he has started to come out of his shell and found his bark. He is clean in the house and will toilet outside to order which is good at night time.

Ralph likes a squeaky toy ball/chew to play with outside and occupies himself and has started to bring it back to me. Ralph is walked on his own and loves his walks. He has met geese and poultry and not been interested in them. He's a tad shy of going into water but feel sure he would go in given support. Ralph has met other dogs outside of the house and is fine with them although I have done this slowly and cautiously.

Unfortunately due to Ralph's past he has started to resource guard me his human foster growling when my dogs are sat next to me or if they come and say hello when he is having a cuddle ( Jealousy)

I feel this could be worked on (my dogs are very tolerant and aren't phased by this behaviour)

Ralph is constantly foraging for food ( he was very underweight when he arrived)

he has jumped onto the kitchen surface and stole toast and some butter whilst with me (my dogs have never done this hence why I was caught out).

Ralph allowed me to take them off him with no trouble but I would not leave anything out or let him come in the kitchen if I was cooking.

Ralph is fed in the morning and evening and likes dry kibble and slightly underweight. Ralph enjoys carrots, broccoli and other treats and will sit and give a paw.

I feel Ralph needs to be a only dog in the home unless your dog is tolerant of him barking at them. There is not a bad bone in him ,

it's anxiety and lacking socialisation.

He's wants attention and at this moment can't share his humans with another dog.

He can be groomed and allows you to take any bits off his ears or coat once he trusts you.

Ralph likes a crate to sleep in overnight and goes in when he needs to. He likes chews to play with and due to him getting excited with them I put him in his crate as he wants my dogs chews as well as his.

Ralph travels OK in a car and dribbles a bit but it's work in progress as he knows going in car = fun.

Ralph is neutered and has had his first injections and due another at the start of October.

Registration, home check and Adoption Donation applies .
