IS DOG CURRENTLY ON ANY MEDICATION? No

DOES THE DOG HAVE ANY KNOWN HEALTH ISSUES? Occasional ear infections

DOES THE DOG HAVE A BITE HISTORY OR ANY BEHAVIOURAL PROBLEMS? He has gone for my dog a few times but not for the last 3 months. He nipped at my hand when I was cleaning a painful ear infection but he didn’t break the skin and was very licky afterwards. He is a very well behaved dog and listens to commands extremely well.

DOES THE DOG PACE, CHASE SHADOWS? He paces when he is excited and when he wants to go to bed.

IS THE DOG PEOPLE FRIENDLY? He is very people friendly but seems to prefer men’s company.

IS THE DOG CHILD FRIENDLY? He has spent limited time around an 11 year old and was very patient with him.

COULD THE DOG LIVE WITH CHILDREN? I would recommend not placing him with children under 12 years old and to never leave them alone together without the child being taught what to do if Bear grumbles as he can be unpredictable if he is tired or in pain (when in pain he can be reactive).

IS THE DOG GOOD WITH OTHER DOGS? He can be reactive to other dogs especially bouncy ones and little ones. However he has lived with my springer who is very calm for over a year and he seems to enjoy her company (it took a long time to get it that way). I have never left them alone together when I go out as I can never fully trust him not to go for her as he has in the past.

COULD THE DOG LIVE WITH A DOG/DOGS? I recommend that he be the only dog in the home.

IS THE DOG CAT TESTED? He does not get on with cats at all, I have 3 and he has chased all of them.

IS THE DOG OK WITH SMALL FURRIES? Not tested

WHAT FOOD IS THE DOG CURRENTLY ON AND FEEDING ROUTINE? 1 bonio at 8am

1 scoop of harringtons biscuits soaked in water (due to lack of teeth) and half a tin of butchers at 4pm plus he has treats throughout the day the amount varying depending on how much exercise he has done

IS THE DOG RELIABLY HOUSETRAINED? Yes

IS THE DOG CRATE TRAINED? Yes that is his safe space

DOES THE DOG TRAVEL OK IN THE CAR, DO YOU USE A CRATE OR SEAT BELT HARNESS? He loves car rides and is happy with a harness seatbelt and spends most of his time either looking out the window or sleeping.

WHAT IT IS THE DOG LIKE ON A LEAD? He walks like a dream on the lead.

DOES THE DOG HAVE RECALL? His recall is fantastic but I only let him off lead where there are no other dogs. If another dog appears he is immediately placed back on the lead.

DOES THE DOG RESPOND TO ANY COMMANDS/WHISTLE? He responds to his name and I think he has been clicker trained at some point but I have not used this when off lead.

DOES THE DOG HAVE SEPARATION ANXIETY, CAN THE DOG BE LEFT IF SO HOW LONG? He can be left for around 3 hours with no issues however if I’m going to be out for any longer than 30 minutes he goes in my bedroom instead of his crate.

DOES THE DOG RESOURCE GUARD TOYS, BALLS OR FOOD, ETC? Yes he can resource guard toys and bones but doesn’t always. Bones is only if in his crate as that’s his space. He hasn’t gone any further than grumbling- a sharp no tends to stop this but leaving him to it is usually the best way to go.

WHERE IS THE DOGS PREFERRED PLACE TO SLEEP? He alternates between being on my bed or in his bed (which is beside my bed) depending on where he wants to be at the time.

DESCRIBE THE DOGS ENERGY LEVELS AND THE AMOUNT OF EXERCISE, PHYSICAL AND MENTAL STIMULATION REQUIRED His energy level is pretty easy going. He is equally happy to go for a walk or sleeping the day away. He doesn’t really go for the brain training side of things he prefers to get belly scratches as often as possible.

He is a little bit dim cause but this just adds to his charm and silliness.

DOES THE DOG HAVE ESCAPE TENDENCIES (FLIGHT RISK)? If he is somewhere new he is likely to try to escape however I can now answer the door and just firmly tell him to stay and he will (he is such a good boy).

IS THE DOG VOCAL/BARKS/HOWLING? He sings when excited (usually when someone knocks the door) but he doesn’t really bark.

HOW IS THE DOG WITH GROOMING, BATHING, BRUSHING? He loves being groomed, he just stands in the shower while I bath him and he loves having his teeth cleaned. No issues cutting his claws but you need to be gentle when cleaning his ears as he suffers occasional ear infections and he gets grumpy if he is in pain.

HOW IS THE DOG AT THE VETS? He is fantastic at the vets I just keep him off to one side if there are other dogs in the waiting room due to his reactivity to other dogs. He does however like to sing to the other dogs.

IS THE DOG REACTIVE TO ANYTHING? He is reactive to ear cleaning and other dogs especially bouncy energetic ones and little dogs.

PLEASE IN YOUR OWN WORDS DESCRIBE THE DOGS BEST QUALITY’S AND WHAT YOU FEEL WOULD BE THE RIGHT HOME. He is a very sweet and loving boy who will spend all day just snuggling up to you. He is very silly especially when having belly scratches, his back legs try to cycle while his front legs are running all while on his back with a cheesy grin. He deserves to be the only animal in the home and to be the centre of someone’s world ( preferably with no kids) he will give you so much love, joy and a fair amount of entertainment. He is a very special boy who needs lots of love.

DESCRIBE THE DOG'S IDEAL HOME, WHAT KIND OF FAMILY WOULD HE SUIT, AND WHERE WOULD HE BE HAPPIEST. He needs to be the only animal in the home. He needs someone with time and patience and preferably experience with dogs having complex needs to learn his little quirks especially at first as gets very unsettled. It took months for him to settle when he came to us and at the advice of a behaviourist we gave him lots of things to lick and chew and this helped a lot ( his favourite is a peanut butter licky mat).

WOULD YOU LIKE TO TELL US ANYTHING ELSE ABOUT YOUR FOSTER DOG THAT HASN'T BEEN COVERED ABOVE? He loves being called baby bear and his favourite treat is cheese. He needs his teeth cleaned regularly as he had a lot of them removed. He has a teddy bear that he takes to bed with him and he washes it before he goes to sleep. He needs to be brushed and bathed regularly due to his fur being so thick that it traps everything in so he gets itchy if not brushed and bathed.
