Spaniels in Foster Care

Our spaniels in foster care are currently being assessed and in some cases undergoing treatment.

When they are ready to find their forever home we will move their details to the adoption page.

Some dogs that are poorly are kept long term in foster and receive the veterinary care they require.

Please Help Us Reach our Goal to continue to Rescue and Re-Home as many dogs as possible.

Your generous support is what makes the difference to the plight of some very vulnerable spaniels.

Each of our foster dogs will be vaccinated, neutered/spayed and  micro-chipped.

Often our vet bills are very high. Each of our foster dogs have a support button if you would like to make a donation.

Unfortunately we cannot take any enquiries until they have been moved to our Adopt a Spaniel page.

This page is updated weekly.

Dog Of The Month Bruce

Since I formed Spaniel Assist Rescue & Re-homing (non-profit organisation) in July 2015, so many spaniels have been given hope and a new life. Each and everyone of them holds a very special place in my heart and always will. Every Forever Home is special and perfect for the dogs. The foster Carers are absolutely amazing and we couldn't do this without our fantastic volunteers

SARR Gives Hope, Love and Restores my Faith in the Human Race - Dawn Clough SARR Founder

This is a plea to help towards Bruce’s huge vet bill

He came to SARR in October 2016 without a lead , collar , bed or anything that our own dogs just take for granted
A lost soul basically that was unwanted and discarded
He had no idea how to play , show or accept affection he had nothing in his eyes , no emotions were shown he was broken
I was told that he was fit and healthy and had no issues .....
none of which were true sadly

In the first week In foster he went for his vet check where it was discovered that he needed 15 teeth out !!
also the blood test revealed that he had problems with his kidneys resulting in blood tests and urine tests every 3 months ( which have to be sent away to the lab at extra costs and it was advised that he should go on a special Renal Diet of dry food that costs £53 every 3 weeks.
If that wasn’t enough We discovered that he was Deaf and can’t hear a thing
This has resulted in him visiting the vets on a regular basis because of the build up of wax and infections which has resulted in regular checks various medication on a regular basis.
He also had a lump that was badly infected and needed draining , antibiotics and injections .
The most recent was that he had a lump that needed testing
So a sample was sent off and the result was that it needed further investigation.
Bruce was revered to the Dove Cote hospital at Castle Donnington where 3 samples were sent of and confirmed that he had cancer.
He had to go to the local vets to get his stitches out and also got more medication.
He has visited the vets approx 25 times whilst in foster and each time there is a consultation fee and treatment
Bruce has been in long term foster for 2 years and 8 months due to his ongoing health issues as it wouldn’t have been expected for anyone to have to take on his ongoing huge vet bills
And as they were pre existing he was uninsurable

All of the vet bills have paid including his most recent which was for an ultrasound scan
Which showed that Bruce had a Marcel Tumour which was very aggressive and growing rapidly and had a high risk of spreading
He was immediately booked in for surgery today which was a very invasive operation which will leave Bruce which a huge wound
This is a very deep tumour and will go to the pathologist to be tested
Results should be back in around a week
So please keep Bruce in your thoughts

Today’s bill is estimated at £3000 and any donation would be very greatly appreciated.   Thank you xx
